Termite Damage

Termite Control

If you’re like most, your home is probably going to be the largest investment you’ll ever make. Your home is your castle, right? Unfortunately, in northeastern North Carolina and southeastern Virginia, it can be hard to own a home or business without eventually getting an unwanted visit from termites. Our climate and humid conditions make the perfect environment for these destructive pests year round.

Not having a termite treatment plan around here is like going to the beach without sunscreen, you’re going to get burned! Choosing Allegiant Pest Control’s Termite Protection Plan will be the best decision you can make in protecting your home from termites.

How We Handle Termites

Pre-Construction Treatment

Pre-construction Treatment

All structures are required to have some form a pre-treatment done during the construction phase. Most pre-construction treatments will last a minimum of 5 years depending on what type of treatment was performed. Your builder will have a company they are comfortable with perform the treatment. One year after the pre-construction treatment is performed you will receive your first annual inspection. These inspections play an important role in keeping your home termite free. Unlike other companies, we have a built in re-treatment plan that won’t cost you a lot of money. Please contact us for more information about how our termite protection plan will work for you.

Post Construction Treatment

Post Construction doesn’t necessarily mean you have termites. The fact is, termiticides do not last forever and it is a good idea to have your home as routinely treated as possible. That doesn’t mean it has to be treated every 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 years. A good rule of thumb is to have a preventative treatment performed every 8 to 10 years. Just like with the pre-construction treatment you are provided with yearly inspections. And again, these inspections play an important role in keeping your home termite free. Unlike other companies, we have a built in re-treatment plan that won’t cost you a lot of money. Please contact us for more information about how our termite protection plan will work for you.

So Here is How it Works

After you request an inspection, one of our professional termite inspectors will thoroughly inspect your home from top to bottom. After the inspection is complete, our inspector will review the findings with you. If a problem with your home is discovered you will be offered a solution that will fit your specific needs. We have a unique re-treatment program that sets us apart from the competition.

Termites cause roughly five billion dollars in damages each year in the U.S. alone. Believe it or not, the damage that termites cause per year is more than earthquakes, fires, and tornadoes combined.

Termite activity often goes undetected until a homeowner finds damage or when termites swarm inside the home. A sign of damage or swarmers is evidence of a mature termite colony. Don’t wait for damage to be done. Here are a few helpful tips in keeping your home termite free.

Wood to Earth Contact

  • Everyone loves the curb appeal of mulch. Mulch traps moisture and termites thrive on moisture. If you can’t eliminate the use of mulch, use it sparingly.
  • Keep wood and other cellulose material out of your crawl space and away from garage and basement walls.
  • Shrubbery and landscaping should be at least two feet away from the home’s foundation.

Excessive Moisture

  • Fix plumbing leaks.
  • Eliminate crawl space humidity and condensation issues.
  • Direct any irrigation and lawn sprinkler heads away from the home’s foundation.
  • Install a crawl space vapor barrier.

Soil Grade Level

  • The soil height in the crawl space should be slightly higher than the outside foundation grade. We recommend at least a two inch difference.
  • Divert water away from the foundation.
  • Clean gutters and down spouts.
